Just about every cruise line and ship has a special space dedicated for children. What varies greatly, is the size, features and overall scope of the onboard children’s program. The cruise lines that focus a lot of attention to families with children include Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. With these lines, almost every ship in their fleet will offer a similar kids club experience, however, the newer ships will typically have more dedicated space allocated to children with better facilities and activities. Other popular cruise lines like Celebrity, Princess, Holland America & Costa also offer kids programs on many of their ships, however, since they tend to carry less children on most of their sailings, their ships are not equipped to the same level as the more popular family lines. It is also not uncommon, for kids’ programs to be combined, reduced or even eliminated on sailings where the number of children is substantially lower when cruising with the lines that are less popular with families. MSC Cruises, a relative newcomer to the North American cruise market, has been investing in state-of-the-art children’s facilities and programming on their newest ships sailing in Europe and the Caribbean.
