If you are planning to drive to get to your port of embarkation, it’s a good idea to consider your options instead of just parking at the on-site lots. Parking on-site will almost always cost you more. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see rates of $20 or even $30 per day. On a week-long cruise that will add up to a good amount of money. For those driving longer distances, there are usually off-site parking facilities near-by the port that will provide you with a shuttle back to the port and pick you up again on your return. Area hotels may allow you to park your car for free with a one night minimum stay and also provide shuttle service. If you live closer to the port, services like Uber or Lyft can be a great way to save money instead of using a taxi service. While it’s great to have options, sometimes you cannot just beat the convenience of having your car accessible just a short walk from your ship.
