Virgin Voyages has announced that they have canceled all sailings on Scarlet Lady through October 15, 2020. This is the second wave of cancelations for Virgin Voyages, as their initial planned launch and inaugural sailing for late March was previously delayed until August.
Scarlet Lady was delivered to Virgin Voyages in early February with a brief introduction to travel media and agents in Dover and Liverpool in the U.K.
A special 4-nigth cruise event planned for Richard Branson’s 70th Birthday for July 15, 2020, has been rescheduled for July 14, 2021.
Virgin Voyages has the following options for affected guests:
For first-time canceled Sailors, Virgin Voyages will be auto-crediting double the amount they’ve paid to date toward their voyage fare. And if they book their next sailing before June 30th, they’ll receive up to $500 to spend on board. If they’d prefer a refund, they can call or email anytime between May 21st and December 31st, 2020.
For Sailors who have already received the full 200% in Future Voyage Credit, they will get to keep it. But, if they’d prefer, instead of the 200% Future Voyage Credit, Virgin Voyages can refund the full paid amount along with a Future Voyage Credit equal to 25% of the paid voyage fare that can be used on a future sailing.
Virgin Voyages also announced the Smooth Sailing Program. For sailings through December 16th, 2020, they are moving final payment dates to 60 days (from 120 days) before they sail, and Sailors can cancel up to 48 hours before their voyage and receive a 100% voyage credit.
Also part of the Smooth Sailing program, Virgin Voyages is lowering the fares for their RockStar Quarters while making the decision to remove some of the previously offered perks. The world is changing, and they want to make sure that Sailors can still experience the brilliance and spacious luxury of traveling as a RockStar. Those already booked RockStars accommodations will receive an updated booking confirmation in the next week to reflect these price changes.
